Elisa and I have been busy putting together toddler activities for learning colors and shapes. Recently, Leland learned the color yellow and the shape of a star. We would like to share four of Leland's favorite YELLOW week activities!

THE STAR BAG
First up is a fun sensory bag made by filling a quart size bag with hair gel, sequins and glitter. We added duct tape around the corners so it wouldn't explode! 😉
CORN SENSORY BIN
We've made many sensory bins, but this time using corn (for yellow week, of course!). We add toys to hide, and we ask Leland to find them. This time around we used star rocks to help with shape identification, and added in cups and different tools to help with fine motor skills.
PAPER PLATE ART
The next project was very easy to put together- we took some construction paper and cut it into pieces for Leland to glue onto a paper plate. For yellow week, we made a sun. You could also try a lion or a Minion!
WATERCOLOR MYSTERY SHAPE
Another easy project, this "mystery shape" uses watercolor paint and a white crayon. To change up the typical painting activity, we draw shapes (this week a star shape) with white crayon. It's fun to watch Leland find the shapes as he brushes over them with watercolor paint. There are many variations to this activity!
Have fun!
