TODDLER ACTIVITIES FOR ORANGE WEEK

Updated: Dec 30, 2023

Elisa and Maria have been busy putting together toddler activities for learning colors and shapes. Recently, Leland learned the color orange and the shape of a triangle. We would like to share four of Leland's favorite ORANGE week activities!

PARTY STREAMER FUN

Maria found an orange roll of these party streamers, so we thought a fun surprise for Leland after his nap was to breakthrough them. He was unsure at first (he crawled underneath them), but he soon realized that he could run through them. There are other ways to use streamers, wrapping it around a toy and wrapping it around your child are just two.

MIXING PAINT

Do you have a ziplock bag? Paint? Paper? And tape? Well, if you do you could this different take on painting. We used red and yellow paint, so Leland could mix the colors around and make ORANGE. On the paper, you can draw something for them to color in (using a sharpie you’re still able to see the outline even with the paint). Put the piece of paper in the bag, add a few dots of paint and let the mixing BEGIN. Make sure to take the paper out right after you are done otherwise consider the paper permanently laminated.

ASSORTMENT OF COLORS

Each week we have a bag full of drawing utensils that correspond to the color we are learning. Leland LOVES it. This week especially, Leland loved coloring any chance he got. The bag ALWAYS has an assortment of markers, highlighters, and crayons. This week we added a piece of orange chalk, which he enjoyed.

STICKERS ON PAPER

Elisa has an expansive collection of stickers from her teaching years, so we are trying to use them in Leland’s activities. For this activity you just need paper and stickers. We used orange paper, so Leland could match orange stickers to it. This activity also works on fine motor skills.

Have fun!
