TODDLER ACTIVITIES FOR GREEN WEEK

Updated: Dec 30, 2023

Elisa and Maria have been busy putting together toddler activities for learning colors and shapes. Recently, Leland learned the color GREEN and the shape of a CIRCLE. We would like to share four of Leland's favorite GREEN week activities! ⠀

CIRCLE GLUING

SUPPLIES

Two Different Kinds of Paper (we used construction paper & scrapbook paper)

Glue (we used a glue stick)

Gluing has always interested Leland! Every week, we consistently have a gluing project for him. There are so many ways to use glue (pretty much in every crafting project there's glue involved). Putting the glue on the big piece of paper, rather than the little circle, will help your toddler be more successful at using a glue stick.

CUTTING GRASS

SUPPLIES

Toilet Paper Roll

Construction Paper

Learning to use scissors is a necessary fine motor skill to have. This was Leland's first time using scissors, and he had a ton of fun! We guided him on how to use them, and after a while he got the hang out it. For this activity, Leland was "cutting grass" with the scissors. Elisa just used green paper, cut it into stripes and taped it to the toilet paper roll.

FOLLOWING THE LINE

SUPPLIES

Paper

Stickers

Marker

This activity uses fine motor skills again: taking the stickers off the sheet and putting them on the line. Also, Leland was learning hand eye coordination and finger pinching. We used the shape of a "L" for Leland which we just wrote on with marker. As you can see, some of the stickers didn't quite make it on the line, but that comes with practice. There are many ways to do this activity such as "tracing" different types of lines, pattern learning, "tracing" shapes and etc...

GREEN COLLAGE

SUPPLIES

Construction Paper

Assortment of Art & Crafts Supplies (we used feathers, pom poms, paint, confetti, & foam stickers)

It's finally collage time! Maria had so much fun finding random arts and crafts in our supplies to create this. Leland used the paint as the adhesive when he was adding all the fun to his collage. We used a tray to have everything laid out for him. This activity focuses on fine motor skills and hand eye coordination. It allow your toddler complete creative freedom! We had many different supplies, with different textures, which was also fun for Leland to play around with.

Have fun with your kids!
