2023 was a weird year for me and that was also reflected in my Goodreads 2023 Reading Challenge đš
I was very much on track to finish my goal of 40 for the year, but I didnât finish a single book from August through December! Thatâs just crazy considering by the end of July I had read 28 out of my 40 books for the year. I got extremely busy with family outings, work, and volunteering for REC that I just couldnât find time to read at the end of 2023. I definitely missed it đż
HEREâS MY YEAR IN BOOKS:
10,626 pages read
28/40 books read
Shortest book: 95 pages (The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn)
Longest book: 561 pages (Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo)
Average book length: 379 pages
Most shelved: Verity by Colleen Hoover
Least shelved: Finding Whatâs Real by Emma Harrison
My average rating for 2023: 4.3 âď¸
Highest rated on Goodreads: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
JANUARY 2023 BOOKS: 2
There was nothing special about January because I was super busy at work so I didnât have as much time I would have liked to spend on reading. I was also taking my Dale Carnegie classes, so technically I read 2 books for that too but I didnât count them in my wrap-up because I didnât finish them.
Before My Eyes by Caroline Bock: 4 âď¸
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: 5 âď¸
FEBRUARY - MARCH 2023 BOOKS: 1
I was still very busy with work during these month so I read even less đš My main goal was to finish the Six of Crows books so I could watch the TV show.
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo: 5 âď¸
APRIL 2023 BOOKS: 8
I was on a serious mission in April to read all the books! It was definitely triggered by how much I enjoyed The Inheritance Games and A Good Girlâs Guide to Murder. I wanted to finish the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series so bad, I probably read all those within a few days of each other because I liked them so much!
The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes: 5 âď¸
A Good Girlâs Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson: 5 âď¸
Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson: 5 âď¸
In Some Other Life by Jessica Brody: 3 âď¸
As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson: 5 âď¸
Kill Joy by Holly Jackson: 4 âď¸
Blonde OPS by Charlotte Bennardo and Natalie Zaman: 3 âď¸
The Red Queen by Philippe Gregory: 4 âď¸
MAY 2023 BOOKS: 5
While I didnât read as many books in May, I still read some solid ones. We lost Marge in May so I was also very preoccupied with all that. I wanted to start The Witcher series, but it was definitely a slower read for me with the way it was written. Iâm excited to finish the Miss Peregrineâs series in 2024!
Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski and Danusia Stok: 4 âď¸
Miss Peregrineâs Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs: 4 âď¸
Hollow City by Ransom Riggs: 4 âď¸
The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls by Jessica Spotswood: 3 âď¸
The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes: 5 âď¸
JUNE 2023 BOOKS: 4
I was so obsessed with Daisy Jones & The Six and The Silent Patient! Josh and I watched Daisy Jones and Iâm pretty sure I was still reading the book at the time so I insisted we could only watch up to what I had read so far. I was pretty busy in June too with some volunteer work for our townâs days, otherwise I know I would have finished more books!
Yes No Maybe So by Becky Albertalli and Aisha Saeed: 4 âď¸
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid: 5 âď¸
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides: 5 âď¸
The Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn: 4 âď¸
JULY 2023 BOOKS: 8
In the summer I like to take more time off from work to enjoy time outside while itâs nice out, so I definitely turned up the reading in July! July was filled with so many amazing books!! I had such a hard time putting them down to go to bed, and even to go to work! Itâs hard to say which one was my favorite!
The Maze Runner by James Dashner: 4 âď¸
The Way I Used to Be by Amber Smith: 5 âď¸
Escaping Perfect by Emma Harrison: 3 âď¸
Verity by Colleen Hoover: 4 âď¸
This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab: 5 âď¸
Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune: 4 âď¸
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros: 5 âď¸
Finding Whatâs Real by Emma Harrison: 3 âď¸
In 2023, I tried to stay out of a reading slump by starting multiple series so when I was finished with one I was still excited to finish another. While that didn't go quite as planned, I am still looking forward to finishing all the new series I started in 2023! I will be sharing more reviews for all of these books in a future post once I complete a special project that I have planned for sharing the books Iâve read! In the meantime, I wanted to share a nice overview of what I read in 2023. Stay tuned for more to come soon!
