{4} AT-HOME VALENTINE'S DAY DATE IDEAS

Updated: Dec 30, 2023

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Valentine’s Day is THIS WEEK!! Now, I like to celebrate Love Day as much as the next person, but this year I don’t want to do the same old, same old. This is my first year celebrating V-Day as a married woman, and I want to make it memorable. My husband and I already go out to eat once a week for date night, so just going out to eat doesn’t feel as special. We also aren’t huge on gift giving- outside of the practical gift or buying supplies for a home project (practical gifts are my love language!).

If you are in the same boat as me- and are looking for something out of the ordinary this Valentine’s Day- look no further! I have done the legwork and researched some great options for you!

MOVIE NIGHT KIT

There is always the classic movie night kit. Nothing screams romantic like watching your favorite movie and snuggling up on the couch. Also, who cares if you pause the movie to makeout a bit ;)

This cute movie night crate from A Joyfully Mad Kitchen is just the ticket (Ha! Get it? Ticket?)

ROMANTIC SPA NIGHT

Backrubs- check. Face Masks- check. Candles and relaxation- check, check.

Play some of your favorite relaxing music and you can’t go wrong. Seriously, one of the easiest date nights to put together and one of the best ways to connect.

THEMED-DINNER COOKING

Do you like to cook? Do you like to cook together? This date night involves scrolling Pinterest to find a recipe that looks delicious- and make it TOGETHER! Cooking together can be so much fun- you have to communicate and trust what the other is doing- and hopefully the food turns out. If not, there is always pizza delivery :)

For an added level of romantic, eat picnic-style on your living room floor.

BEER OR WINE TASTING

Do you and your partner love a good wine, or are craft beers more your style? Either way, and easy- and fun- date night is to head to the liquor store together, pick out some beverages that you have been wanting to try, and get tasting! Put together a meat and cheese board, light a few candles, and all you need now is some good conversation. A blind tasting could can bring out your competitive side and the blindfold can amp up the romantics!

Feeling fancy? Impress with a charcuterie board fit for a King- or Queen- with tips from Celebrations at Home

A couple other things to remember for a stay-at-home date:

  • Put away all your devices- social media won’t miss you for one night, promise!

  • When talking, make eye contact and LISTEN to what you partner is saying.

  • There is no need to get into what can be touchy subjects- work or finances, for example.

Now get out there and feel the love people- Happy Valentine’s Day!
