Winters in the Midwest can get BORING when you have to stay indoors- especially when you're a toddler (and parents/caretakers can go a little batty)! I am a nanny to my sister, Elisa's, two boys- ages 2 years and 7 months- and we have definitely had to get creative in the entertainment department this winter. If you are in the same boat, trying to beat the winter blues, check out these simple activities for toddlers that are FUN! Most are Valentine's-inspired, but you could change them up a bit for year-round fun :)
FOAM STICKERS
Foam stickers are always fun to use! There are all different shapes, sizes and colors you can find. If you want a fun Valentine's Day activity you can easily decorate a card or picture to give to the grandparents. We just stuck them on paper and hung it up on the wall!
Tip: Use thicker paper just in case the sticker gets taken off!
STAMPS
Stamps are always fun to play with, because they are different from the regular 'ole stickers. We had stampers for the Holiday season and HAD to pick some up for Valentine's Day! The stampers were found at our local dollar store, so they are affordable and you can switch them up every season or get them for the different holidays!
Tip: Fold a piece of paper into a card and stamp away- now you have another option for giving to the grandparents!
JELLO & TOYS
Toys can get boring for kids, so for something different put the toys in...JELLO! It's super simple-just make the jello in the morning, so it has time to set- but don't forget to put the toys in! It keeps them entertained for awhile- and they might get a little snack out of the deal :)
Tip: Use toys that are easy to clean!
PAINT HEARTS
This is an easy way to contribute learning shapes to crafts. Just find a empty toilet paper roll, form to whatever shape you want, dip it in some washable paint, and stamp away! We made a heart shape for RED and HEART week!
TIP: Use tape to keep the form of the shape!
Now go have some fun with your little humans!
