Another Easter celebration in the books! It was the second annual gathering of the River Road Sisters and the River Road Family and the Gortmaker clan (my hunny’s family) and fun times were had by all!
We planned a potluck meal and everyone brought a dish to share- seriously, this is the BEST way to have a meal with a large group (this year there were 16 people). There was ham and turkey, mashed potatoes and cheesy corn, and the desserts- tons of desserts!
It has also become tradition to play bingo at this gathering- everyone brings prizes to share and we have real bingo gear and everything! It has become so fun (and a little competitive) and a great way to spend time together while we rest our full bellies.
Now you might be asking yourself- where the heck are the pictures?? I want to get some ideas for MY next family gathering. Well, I need to be the bearer of bad news...in the midst of everything going on- setting up, making food, hosting, playing bingo caller, and snuggling with my nephew- I FORGOT TO TAKE PICTURES OF EVERYTHING!!!! 😩
I do have some River Road siblings and sisters pictures, but nothing of the whole group- or the food spread- or the decorations- or the bingo prizes- or playing bingo.
So, why am I writing this post?? I am volunteering myself as the cautionary tale- and to give some tips on how to find the balance of documenting your fun family times, while not losing focus on the people interaction (which sometimes happens when social media is involved).
