2017 is here! I keep reading posts on social media about how terrible of a year 2016 was, but I try not to view it that way. I was alive, I met some goals, I lost some goals, I patched up some relationships, got my health back on track, STARTED THIS BLOG with my sisters, got out of my comfort zone and went on a few adventures, learned some new skills, met my first nephew, and so much more that I can’t help but to feel that 2016 was a success (of course there were some bad things that happened, but why focus on them- obviously I was able to move forward from them and come out on top, so I view that as a win)!!
So, let’s talk resolutions. I have never been the one to make resolutions, because you hardly ever hear of anyone keeping them, but I am a firm believer in making goals. I will admit that I don’t always make it to my goals, but I think that even envisioning things that will better you as a person is a step in the right direction. I like to make short-term and long-terms goals. The short-term goals may be things that are easily attainable and it gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling of accomplishing something (like cleaning up the kitchen every night before you go to bed or cutting back and only going out to eat one time per week)- meeting this short-term goals give me the motivation to work on my long-term goals (like creating one blog post per week or finding Etsy seller’s training to improve my shop OR working out three times a week- which doesn’t seem like much, but for me this IS a big goal).
Also, goals should be kept personal. Don’t focus on resolutions that everyone else is making this time of year (like joining a gym or traveling more- unless they TRULY are goals that you would like to achieve). Dig deep and find the goals that will make you HAPPY and FULFILLED- big or small- it doesn’t matter because goals are about YOU and no one else! And guess what- if you want to scrap a goal you made and make a new one, you can! We are evolving people and what is important to us this month may change by the time we get to July.
Now that you are fired up and ready for some goal planning here is a tool to get you started- a goal planner. This tool will help you write out your goals and track your progress. It is simple and to the point- I help it helps you write out your thoughts and make some changes this year!
