I have 50+ tights. It is an obsession that I've had since Middle School, and finding the perfect tights at a decent price is a lot harder than you'd expect.
I honestly have no idea where I got the idea from. I just remember buying clothespins and thinking about what I could do with them. I went to Jessica's and noticed a 2x4, and immediately asked if she had one to spare. Then the idea happened when I was organizing my clothes in my tiny room in an effort to optimize space. I needed a tight hanger!
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Clothespins (I only purchased a bag of 24,
but any amount would do)
- A 2x4 piece of wood (the one I used is
about 3.5 ft long)
- Paint & brushes (I just used some acrylic
paint and foam brushes)
- String
- Nails (these were used to attach board
to the wall)
- Hot glue gun
- Hammer and/or drill
PROCESS:
1) I painted all sides of the board first. I did a coat of the Palatinate Blue first. I added black to the side edges and then kind of dry brushed black across the front. I actually used a paper towel to wipe some off to get the effect shown.
2) While the board was drying, I painted the outside of the clothespins black.
*Note: The only thing I would've changed about this step is either sanding or putting a coat of Modge Podge over the inside closed part of the clothespins so my tights won't get snagged.
3) Once everything was dry, I hot glued the clothespins to the board after evenly spacing them out.
4) I hammerd two nails to the top corners of the board so that I could attach the string.
*Note: The string was origingally attached because we did not have a drill, so I needed some way to hang it up. I left it up after drilling it to the wall because it just looked like it was floating, an effect I didn't like.
5) Attach to wall and organize tights in any way you like.
Now my tights aren't in a pile. I can actually see all of them, so now I am able to pick the exact pair that I want, in less time.
