{TUTORIAL} COFFEE FILTER WREATH

Updated: Dec 30, 2023

It was a weirdly warm February, that turned in to a cold, snowy March - at least in North Dakota. I am SO over winter and SO ready for spring/summertime and my favorite activities that go with these seasons - mainly sitting out on the patio, soaking in the Vitamin D, and so I have been trying to keep my mind off of the lack of *warm enough* temperatures by crafting, crafting, and then crafting some more.

There are few things I like in life more than a good door wreath. Everything from burlap, to deco mesh to greenery, and my ALL-TIME FAVORITE…coffee filters!

You are probably thinking, “What? Coffee filters??”. Yes, coffee filters. Cheap, easy, and gorgeous- what more could you ask for?

I have made several in the past couple months:

Are you feeling inspired and ready to make your own??

MATERIALS:

  • One package of coffee filters (white or tan), small or large

  • Foam wreath form (preferably white)

  • Hot glue gun and LOTS of glue sticks

  • Ribbon for a hanger

  • Other embellishments

PROCESS (watch the video - my FIRST tutorial video - below):

  • Start by folding approximately 2 stacks of the coffee filters in fourths (half, then half again)- the package I got had four stacks and I used two. you can ALWAYS fold more if needed 😊

  • Heat up your hot glue gun and get those glue sticks ready!

  • Now the fun starts…grab a folded filter, by putting your fingers in a couple of the spaces. Dab a small amount of glue on the bottom tip of the filter, and glue on to the form. Scrunch it up a bit when you attach it, so you get a fuller effect.

  • You will attach the filters in a row, starting in middle of the form and work your way around. The next row will be on the inner side, and the last row on the outside.

  • When you have 3, full rows on the form, start filling in any gaps and work on spreading out the filters. The end result should be “ruffly” (that’s a technical term, right?).

  • When you reach the desired fullness, decide where you want to attach the ribbon hanger, as well as how long you need to make the hanger (dependent on your door, position of the door hanger, etc.). Tie the ribbon around and hide the knot in the back- you can glue it in place if you would like.

  • Next, gather up your embellishments and attach as desired.

Hang and ENJOY!

(Don’t forget to share pictures on how yours turned out- we would love to see them!)

*If you aren’t “feeling” making your own wreath, send us a message and we can make a CUSTOM ORDER just for you 😊…because everyone deserves some pretty #doorswag.
